Austan Davis took the reigns as UMD football's offensive line coach on Feb. 3, 2025 after most recently serving as an offensive analyst at Temple University since 2023. At Temple, Davis contributed to the development of quarterbacks and tight ends, as well as the offensive game plan.
"Our staff worked hard to make sure we got right coach for this position," said UMD head football coach Curt Wiese. "UMD Football has a strong tradition of talented well coached offensive lineman. Austan was a clear cut choice as we went through an extensive process. I look forward to working along side him this spring as he brings his experience to UMD Football."
During the 2023 season, Davis was the offensive line graduate assistant at Temple University where he helped develop two All-AAC offensive line selections and contributed to a top-30 ranking in both passing offense and sacks allowed. Before Temple, Davis coached at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas, where he was the running backs coach. His is running backs led the Lone Star Conference in rushing yards per game, and two players earned All-LSC honors, including the 2022 LSC Freshman of the Year.
As a player, Davis was a standout offensive lineman at Midwestern State University. A 36 game starter, Davis earned All-LSC honors twice, and was also a team captain for three years. Davis helped lead the team to three Lone Star Conference championships, and his leadership and contributions on and off the field earned him the Robert Grays Teammate of the Year award.
Davis holds a Master’s in Higher Education from Temple University and a Bachelor’s of Science in sport & leisure studies from Midwestern State University. He lives in Duluth with his wife, Taylor Davis, who shares his passion for football and community.
