Charla Buxbaum is in her fifth year as the Assistant Director of Sports Medicine and Performance after serving as an Athletic Trainer at UMD for the previous 9 years. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Human Biology with an emphasis in Exercise Science from the University of Wisconsin Green Bay (UWGB). From there, Buxbaum earned her Masters' of Science in Athletic Training from The College of St. Scholastica.
Upon her arrival at UMD in 2012, Buxbaum has primarily worked with football, women's soccer, women's basketball, cross country and track and field. Currently, she provides healthcare directly to football, men's and women's cross country, track and field and women's basketball. Buxbaum holds certifications in Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) through Owens Recovery Sciences, Graston Technique (M2), Dry Needling, Muscle Energy Techniques and is a Certified Instructor Trainer through the American Red Cross.
Buxbaum is a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) and MN State Licensed Athletic Trainer (LAT). She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA), the Great Lakes Athletic Trainers Association (GLATA) and the Minnesota Athletic Trainers Association (MATA).
A Hermantown, Minnesota native, Charla currently resides in Duluth with her family.
