2018: Continued to bide his time as part of the supporting cast on the offensive front ... was restricted to two games (both at Malosky Stadium).
2017: Settled in as the No. 2 right offensive tackle behind senior All-American Nolan Folkert ... his resume from the year consisted of six appearances , including the entire five-game home schedule ... wore No. 61.
2016: Was redshirted as a first-year freshman.
BEFORE UMD: Two-year starter at Grand Rapids High School ... was named to the All-District first team defensive tackle following his farewell season in a Thunderhawk uniform ... captained the Grand Rapids High School in 2015 ... played under head coach Greg Spahn ... also was a two-time lacrosse lettermen (defense).
PERSONAL: Is the son of Dale and Karen Gessell ... his father was a 1989 All-Northern Intercollegiate Conference quarterback for the Bulldogs ...  his older brother, Jackson, played baseball at University of Minnesota-Morris ... is majoring in communication at UMD.
