AS A BULLDOG:
2017: Was red-shirted as a first-year freshman.
BEFORE UMD: Three-year starter (running back and defensive back) at Catholic Memorial High School ... was sidelined for a good chunk of his senior season, but still served as the Crusaders' team captain ... placed first on the Crusader scoring charts in both 2015 and 2014 and led the club in rushing as a junior ... secured All-Classic 8 Conference, All-City, and All-Region honors in 2015 ... played under head coach Bill Young ... lettered three times in track for the Crusaders and was a part of the 4 x 100 relay state champion unit ... also was a fixture on the Catholic Memorial High School baseball diamond as a four-year starting outfielder.
PERSONAL: Is the son of Ronald and Debra Karfonta ... is majoring in business at UMD.
