Biography
BULLDOG CAREER:
2021-22 (Junior): Nelson appeared in all 29 games for the Bulldogs this season. She became a consistent presence off the bench as she averaged 14 minutes per game. She averaged 2.8 points on the season. She scored a career high 12 points in a game against Concordia St. Paul, thanks to a perfect 3-3 night from three-point range.Â
2020-21 (Sophomore): Nelson appeared in 13 games for the Bulldogs during the 2020-21 season. She averaged 2.4 points per game and tallied six steals on the season. Shot 45.8% from the field and 41.7% from the beyond the arc. Went a perfect 4-4 from the charity stripe. Was considered the Bulldogs defensive specialist good for locking down opponents best guards from off the bench.Â
2019-20 (Freshman): Nelson enjoyed ample playing time in her first year with UMD, seeing action in 14 games with 7.3 minutes per game. She was able to score 0.9 points per game, along with seven assists and two steals. She scored four field goals in 16 attempts, good for a .250 shooting percentage. she also grabbed six rebounds on the season.
BEFORE UMD: Kaylee is a 2019 graduate of Roseville High School • played varsity for five seasons and was in the starting lineup the last four seasons for the Raiders • played under coach Jeff Crosby • helped her team to a fourth place finish in the 2018 MSHSL Class AAAA tournament • named all conference from 2015-16, 2017-18, and 2018-19 • defensive MVP three times and MVP senior year • All-State honorable mention 2017-18 • captain of the Raiders her junior and senior years • competed in soccer for five years.
PERSONAL: Born in Minnesota • daughter of Stacy and Kathy Nelson • has one older sister, Kaitlin • likes dance, playing any sport, and playing Mario Kart • she is undecided on her major.
