AS A BULLDOG:
2016: Was relocated to the offensive line after a three-year trial at nose tackle ...  appeared in one game (the home finale with Mary).
2015: Experienced a modest bump in playing time from the previous fall ... his defensive stat line included six total tackles, 2.0 of which went for a loss ... was called into duty in six outings ... came away with a pair of tackles against both Minnesota Crookston (Oct. 24) and Wayne State (Sept. 12) at Malosky Stadium.
2014: Occupied the No. 3 nose tackle spot on the team's depth charts for the greater part of the season ... partook in four games (including three home engagements) and managed a pair of tackles ... had the second of  UMD's two blocked punts last fall  in a 38-7 victory over Southwest Minnesota State at Malosky Stadium.
2013: Was redshirted as a first-year freshman.
BEFORE UMD: Strutted his stuff for three rewarding seasons on Winona Cotter High School's interior lines ... played under head coach Bruce Carpenter … attained All-Hiawatha Valley League first team distinction as a senior and was also chosen the Winona Daily News All-Area Team … spent three winters patrolling the post for the basketball Ramblers and was a four-time track letterwinner with the Cotter track and field team … was a member of the National Honor Society, becoming an officer as a senior.
PERSONAL: Is the son of Roger and Sheila Kirkvold ... is majoring in mechanical engineering at UMD.
