Biography

AS A BULLDOG: 
2020: Season canceled due to COVID-19 pandemic.
2019: Dressed in all eleven games for UMD. Finished fifth on the team in total tackles with 36, while finishing the year with 24 solo tackles. Posted a team-leading nine sacks for a loss of 58 yards. Tallied 14 TFL and one pass break-up. 
2018: Played a central part in UMD’s nationally-ranked ball-stopping efforts and was aptly rewarded with a All-NSIC North Division first team citation ... pillaged opposing backfields for 6.5 sacks (the second highest output among Bulldogs), 9.0 tackles for a loss, a team-leading six quarterback hurries and one defensive touchdown while playing out of the outside linebacker position ... had a hand in a career-high 35 tackles in his first year as a full-time starter ... took his first pick as a Bulldog (and UMD's final interception of the season) and brought it back 29 yards for a touchdown in the 33-17 NCAA II playoff loss to visiting Texas A&M-Commerce.
2017: Gave the Bulldog coaching staff plenty of reason to be optimistic about the UMD’s future linebacking plans ... wrapped up the year with 29 total tackles -- a figure bettered by only seven Bulldogs (and not one non-fulltime starter) ... 6.5 of those stops resulted in negative yards for the offense ...  made his first -- and only -- collegiate start against St. Cloud State on Sept. 28, one of his 11 appearances on the season ... was credited with one of UMD's six blocked kicks.
2016: Was redshirted as a first-year freshman.
BEFORE UMD:  Four-year starter (splitting time between safety, outside linebacker, running back and punter) at Northwestern High School ... ran for more yards (4,157) than anyone in Tiger program history and set the team single-season rushing mark (1,657 yards) as a senior ... recorded 33 tackles and five sacks in addition to averaging 41.9 yards per punt in 2015 ... was a two-time All Heart O' North Conference pick (2015 and 2014) and an All-State honorable mention linebacker and punter in 2015 ...  collared 2015 Academic All-State honors as well ... served as a team captain during each of his final two years of competition  ... played under head coach David Crail ... was a four-time basketball (forward) and track and field (high jump, long jump, and relays letterwinner at Northwestern High School.
PERSONAL: Is the son of Gary and Susan Pearson ... is majoring in teaching mathematics at UMD.
COLLEGIATE HIGHS: Total Tackles - 6 vs. Bemidji State (9/22/18).  Sacks - 2.0 vs. Northern State (11/10/18). Tackles For Loss - 2.0 vs. Northern State (11/10/18) and MSU-Moorhead (9/18/18). Interceptions - 1 vs. Texas A&M-Commerce (11/17/18).
