AS A BULLDOG: Has unfortunately spent a sizable chunk of the past two seasons battling the injury bug instead of opposing offenses ... his sophomore year was just six weeks old when a knee injury put him on the wounded list for good ... concluded 2011 with six tackles ... suffered a knee sprain late in UMD’s 2010 home opener with Wayne State and never set foot on the field from that point on ... that injury also limited his 2011 spring practice participation ... had racked up nine total tackles in those first two-plus games of 2010 ... was redshirted as a first-year freshman in 2009.

BEFORE UMD: Was chosen the Duluth News Tribune All-Area Player of the Year for the second season in a row in 2009 … made quite an impact at both the linebacker and running back positions for Moose Lake-Willow River High School -- garnered the Great Polar Alliance’s Most Valuable Offensive and Defensive Player of Year awards following both his junior and senior seasons … earned Associated Press All-State honorable mention distinction on two occasions (2007 and 2008) and All-Great Polar Alliance honors three times (2006-08) … helped lead the Rebels to a 12-1 record as a seniorl and their third straight Minnesota State AA Tournament berth ... played under Dave Louzek at Moose Lake-Willow River … was also a four-year starter in both baseball (pitcher and outfielder) and basketball (forward).
