AS A BULLDOG:
2016: Maintained his role as a staple at the defensive end position for all 12 outings and was an All-NSIC second team pick ... eclipsed the 20-tackle mark for the third straight year, finishing the season with 21 stops, including three sacks ... also forced a fumble and recovered another miscue ...  has now played in more lifetime games (36) than any current Bulldog defender ... qualified for the NSIC All-Academic Team.
2015: Ramped up his game up a notch or two and had the numbers to prove it ...set personal bests for total tackles (26),  solo stops (11), assisted tackles (15), tackles for a loss (8.5) and sacks  (4.5) ...  also broke up two passes ... equaled a UMD 2015 season high with his 2.0 sacks at the expense of Bemidji State on Nov. 7 ... was shelved for the home opener against Wayne State with an upper body injury and missed all of 2016 spring drills after undergoing surgery ... joined 12  of his teammates on the NSIC All-Academic Team. 
2014: Became an instant source of starting relief when left defensive end Jacob Brusehaver was beset by a season-ending lower body injury eight weeks into the season ... started the year's final six engagements and responded to that promotion by registering 22 overall tackles, including 4.0 stops for a loss ... also blocked a kick (a field goal try at Winona State on Sept. 27).
2013: Was redshirted as a first-year freshman.
BEFORE UMD:  Served as Cold Spring-Ricori's team captain under head coach Mike Rowe during his one season of starting duty in 2012 … corralled All-Central Lakes Conference, all-area (honorable mention) and all-state academic recognition that same fall … also earned three varsity letters in basketball (center) and one in track and field (triple jump and thrower).
PERSONAL: Is the son of Jeff and Becky Thorpe ... his younger brother, Nate, is a first-year freshman linebacker in the Bulldog program ... is majoring in mechanical engineering at UMD.
COLLEGIATE HIGHS: Total Tackles - 4 (5 Times). Sacks - 2.0 at Bemidji State (11/7/15). Tackles For Loss - 2.0 (3 Times). Pass Breakups - 2 at Bemidji State (11/7/15).
