BEFORE UMD: Three-year starter (offensive line and defensive tackle) at Byron High School ... played under head coach Ben Halder ... was both an Associated Press and Minnesota Football Coaches Association All-State third team honoree in 2018 ...  collared All-Hiawatha Valley League and All-Section recognition for the second year in a row that season ... served as Byron High School's team captain during his last two prep seasons ... has also lettered twice in basketball (center) for the Bears.
PERSONAL: Is the son of Randy and Susan Holz ... has one younger sister (Stephanie) ... is majoring in business at UMD.
