Making her UMD softball coaching debut in 2016-17 is Courtney Smith, who will serve as a graduate assistant under Jen Walter.
Smith, a native of Dassel, Minn., was an outfielder at the University of Wisconsin-Stout for two seasons (2013 and 2014) before enlisting her services with the Blue Devils cross country and track and field (middle distance runner and javelin) teams her final two collegiate seasons. A four-time National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III athlete, Smith graduated summa sum laude (and in the top 15 in her class) from Wisconsin Stout in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science degree in health, wellness and fitness (with a concentration in health and wellness promotions).
She is currently enrolled in the Master's of Education program at UMD.
