UMD Athletics

Steve Lahti, joined the Bulldog softball coaching staff in the summer of 2021. Lahti a current resident of Oulu, WI, is 1997 graduate from the College of St. Scholastica with a degree in elementary education and St. Mary’s, MN, where he received his master’s degree in the spring of 2010. 

During his time at St. Scholastica he excelled both in the classroom and on the baseball field where he still holds numerous pitching and hitting records for the Saints. After graduation Lahti embarked on an extensive coaching career that garnered stops at both the college (St. Mary’s, MN) and high school levels (Northwesten, WI. and Hayward, WI.) before joining the UMD staff this year. Lahti, will be focused on working with the hitters and outfielders. 

Lahti has also volunteered his time to numerous youth baseball and basketball associations throughout the northland and is currently the Vice President of the Oulu Cultural & Heritage Center. 

Steve is married to Kerry (nee Marquardt) and they are the proud parents of three boys; Cole, Austin and Ayden.
