AS A BULLDOG:
2016 - Ramped up her game a notch or two and had the numbers to prove it .. rolled up an 18-8 record and a 3.07 ERA -- both career bests -- in 29 outings, including 25 as a starter ... led the Bulldogs in victories (18) and innings (166 2/3) and winning percentage (.692) ... was chosen to the NSIC Gold Glove team after compiling a .982 fielding percentage ... won 10 straight decisions to close out the regular season .... qualified for the NSIC All-Academic Team honoree and received a NFCA Scholar-Athlete Award.
2015 - Delivered a breakout season and established personal bests for strikeouts (151), appearances (33), starts (a team-high 31), complete games (15)  while going 14-10 with a 3.52 earned run average ... posted her two sophomore shutouts in back-to-back outings (5-0 vs. both Northern State on Feb. 19 and Southwest Minnesota State five days later) ... struck out a career-best 11 Pace University batters in a 2-0 setback on March 18 in Clermont, Fla ... held opposing batters to a.198 average with two outs ... was a NSIC All-Academic Team honoree and a NFCA Scholar-Athlete Award recipient.
2014 - Made 23 appearances on the mound as the team's lone southpaw ... struck out 70 batters in 84.0 innings of work  ... started 15 games and completed two of those while going 2-7 ... registered a then career-high seven punchouts on two different occasions (vs. Northern State on March 19 and Mary on April 19) ... held lefthanded hitters to a .219 average while righties hit at a .347 clip ... induced the same number of ground outs as fly outs (80) .
BEFORE UMD: Is a 2013 graduate of Orono High School … lettered five times and started three years for head coach Mike Carter … was named as the 2013 Play Ball Ms. Softball winner … was selected to the Minnesota State AAA All-Tournament Team and team finished third in the 2012 event … was an All-Wright County Conference member in 2012 and 2013 … attained All-Section status in her final two prep seasons … played in the Minnesota Senior All-Star game … also played volleyball for the Spartans … was member of the National Honor Society.
PERSONAL: Born Samantha Christine Hartmann in Orono, Minn. … is the daughter of Glenn and Jody Hartmann … has two younger brothers (Jake and Nick) … is majoring in marketing and graphic design at UMD.
