UMD Athletics

Cory James Chapp joined the UMD Sports Medicine staff as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach in July 2022. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, and his Master of Science in Exercise and Sports Science from Merrimack College.

During and after his education, Chapp served as a Strength and Conditioning intern at Boston University, Louisiana State University, Merrimack College, and the University of Minnesota before becoming the Assistant Sports Performance Coach at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. He would serve as Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning at the United States Performance Center and a Strength and Conditioning Coach in the Chicago Cubs minor league system before his arrival at UMD.

Chapp is a certified strength and conditioning specialist under the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as well as CPR, AED, and First Aid certified under the American Red Cross.
