BULLDOG CAREER:
2016-17 (Junior) Appeared in eight games coming off the bench to spell the starters • tallied a season-high seven points on two occasions • averaged 2.3 points and 3.0 rebounds • despite limited minutes, she was a bruising interior rebounder collecting 3.0 rebounds per game, which was the fifth highest average among Bulldogs • packed a pair of shots on Dec. 10 at Sioux Falls • recorded her one and only three-point make on her only attempt against Northern State • had her best game as a junior vs. Northern State, totaling seven points and five boards.
2015-16 (Sophomore) Played in 25 games off the bench, averaging a career-high 15.9 minutes per game • scored a season-high eight points in back-to-back games against Minnesota-Crookston on Dec. 4 and against Bemidji State on Dec. 5 • also grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds in that Dec. 5 game against the Beavers • grabbed seven rebounds and scored five points at Winona State on Feb. 6 • averaged 3.6 rebounds and 2.4 points per game.
2014-15 (Freshman) Played in 25 games for UMD, averaging 9.5 minutes off the bench • put together her season-best game vs Pittsburg State on Nov. 21 with highs of 10 points and nine rebounds • scored four points and grabbed four rebounds against Wayne State on Jan. 16 • grabbed seven rebounds against Minot State on Feb. 21 • grabbed three steals in the NSIC/Sanford Health Tournament against Augustana (S.D.) on Feb. 25.
BEFORE UMD: A 2014 graduate of Osseo Senior High School • played four years for coach John Rieser and the Orioles • an All-Northwester Suburban Conference selection as a junior • helped lead the Orioles to back-to-back State Tournament appearances in 2011-12 and 2012-13 • served as a senior captain in 2013-14 • finished as the team’s top rebounder as a junior • also started four years as a midfielder/forward in soccer and participated in track & field • part of an Osseo school record for 4x400 relay team.
PERSONAL: Born Ayo Leah Porte in Brooklyn Park, Minn. • first name is pronounced “EYE-yo” • daughter of Crystal and Velmer Porte • one of four Porte siblings (Omar, Mina, Iman) • honored with “Spotlight on Scholarship” for keeping a 3.0 or higher GPA in each of her four years at Osseo High School • member of Junior and Senior Leadership Teams , Action for Reaction, and Green Club • Homecoming Queen in her senior year • served as a Student Ambassador and WEB Leader • plans to major in psychology at UMD.
