Biography
BULLDOG CAREER:
2021-22 (Senior): Olson had another big season for the Bulldogs as she started in all 29 games for the Bulldogs. Olson was once again the Bulldogs leading scorer as she averaged 18.0 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game in 27.8 minutes per game. Olson also shot 51.2% from the field on the season and she also shot 82.5% from the foul line. Olson also received several personal accolades including being named NSIC North Player of the Week two times, NSIC North Player of the Year, NSIC First Team All-Conference, D2CCA First Team All-Region, WBCAÂ All American, WER Second Team All-American, and D2CCA All-American Honorable Mention.
2020-21 (Junior): Olson had another career year for the Bulldogs in 2020-21 as she started in all sixteen games that the Bulldogs competed in. Olson averaged 30.1 minutes per game during her contests. She led the Bulldog roster and NSIC in points per game with 21.9 and finished ranked seventh in ppg in the NCAA. Led UMD in rebounds per game with 7.8. Paced the Bulldog roster and the NSIC shooting 136-254 for a 53.5% shooting percentage. Went 48-57 from the charity stripe an 84.2% mark from the line. Olson was named the NSIC North Player of the Year (NSIC All-First Team Selection), she was also cited as a WBCA DII All-American (First Team) for the second straight season, and a D2CCA Second Team All-American.Â
2019-20 (Sophomore): Olson tore it up in her second year with UMD, being honored as the NSIC Player of the year, being chosen as the D2CCA Region Player of the Year and being named as an All-American (1st team WBCA, 4th team Small College Hoops). Olson stepped into a starting role in her second season, playing in 29 and starting in 26. Olson finished the year 4th in the NSIC in scoring (17.2 ppg), 15th in rebounding (6.4 rpg) and 2nd in fg percentage (51.9%). She played an average of 16.6 minutes per night. Olson was also named to the NSIC All-Academic team.
2018-2019 (Freshman): Named to the NSIC All-Freshman Team • saw playing time in all 29 games, recording 583 total minutes • racked up 254 total points, 153 rebounds and 39 assists • averaged 20.1 minutes per game, 8.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.3 rebounds as a freshman • made 40 0f 50 attempted free throws and finished with a 80.0 percent at the line
BEFORE UMD: A 2018 graduate of Rice Lake H.S. • played five seasons and captained the last three years for the Warriors and head coach Darla Olson (mother) • 2017-18 Leader-Telegram All-Northwest Player of the Year • a two-time All-State WBCA honoree and a three-time All-Big Rivers Conference selection • named to All-Northwest second team as a junior • scored at 17.0 points per game and in rebounding at 12.7 boards per game as a junior and backed that up with 22.3 points and 12.7 rebounds as a senior • received the team's determination award and the passion award (twice) for the Warriors • competed as a middle blocker for the Warriors, earning 2017 All-Big Rivers Conference honorable mention, and played two years of goalie on the soccer team that made back-to-back trips to the state tournament.
PERSONAL: Born Brooke Lee Olson in Rice Lake, Wis. • daughter of Forrest and Darla Olson • has one younger sister, Brynn • her mother played collegiately at Michigan Tech and her father also played collegiately at UW-Oshkosh • her grandfather went to medical school and graduated from UMD • was the co-president of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and a member of National Honor Society • plans to major in biology at UMD.
