GETTING TO KNOW MAYA:
Why I Chose UMD: My family is super active and has been coming up to Duluth for decades to do cross-country skiing, biking, and hiking for decades, so I grew up taking trips here to enjoy the wilderness. It was the right size for me, and I knew people who went here, who loved it as well!
Influences On My Athletic Career: My teammates from high school, they’re all amazing, strong girls. We support each other through the good and bad, even though we were all in different high schools across the state and would have to compete against each other at big meets such as Hamline Elite and State.
What Most People Don't Know About Me: I’ve worked at a tea shop for the past three years, and I have the information memorized for over 100 different types of loose leaf tea.
Pre-Meet Ritual or Superstition: I always wake up super early to get ready, so I don’t get to the meet still sleepy. The night before sections in high school, I would dye my hair bright pink also!
Favorite Professional Athlete: Dean Lister
Sport I'd Like to Try Someday: Polo, but I’m not that good at hand-eye coordination and horses scare me.

HIGH SCHOOL:
High School Attended: I attended Woodbury High School in Woodbury, MN.
Years Lettered/Competed with Varsity: I lettered for all four years that I did track, on top of being varsity for all four years. I was a co-captain my sophomore year, and captain my junior and senior year.
High School Highlights: I went to state my sophomore through senior year for shotput, and placed 5th my junior year after being in a boot and crutches for 5 weeks prior. I also went to state for discus my senior year. I was a national qualifier for shotput my junior and senior year.

Siblings: I have one sibling. She is 2 years older than me, and her name is Ella.
Place of Birth: I was born in St. Paul, so about 15 minutes from where I was raised in Woodbury.
