Biography

GETTING TO KNOW MELISSA DRENCKHAHN:
Favorite Track Meet: NSIC Outdoor Conference- I love seeing everyone perform and the atmosphere.
Why I Chose UMD: I love the city (so many places to see and go to), the community, and the team. It made me feel at home.
Influences On My Athletic Career: My family especially one of my older brothers Jeremy, he has pushed me to be the best I can be and beyond. He is one of the runners I look up to and provides me with so much information about running when I am curious.
Favorite College Course: I don't have one currently but I think I am really going to like human anatomy and all the exercise science classes.
What Most People Don’t Know About Me: Growing up I played lots of sports but never thought I’d run (even though my brothers are both runners); Dance,  figure skating, Hockey, Softball, and Taekwondo were my sports growing up.
Most Memorable UMD Athletic Moment: Having a PR at regionals was pretty awesome, but I would also say Nationals in St. Leo Florida was pretty memorable too!
Pre-Meet Ritual: I like to think and visualize the race, I also focus on being mentally tough, and remind myself I’ve done this before.
Favorite Pro-Athlete: Probably Jenny Simpson! However I also really like Emma Coburn and Kara Goucher.
Sport I’d Like To Try Some Day: I would wanna try gymnastics or go back to hockey.
