Jordan Ashton

Jordan Ashton will join the men’s basketball staff as an assistant coach for the 2021-2022 season. Before coming to UMD, Ashton was an assistant coach at Iowa Wesleyan University.
 
A native of Mount Pleasant, Iowa, Ashton spent the previous season as a graduate assistant for the University of South Dakota. Before then, he was the assistant coach at Kirkwood Community College where he was a part of the 2019 National Championship winning team. Ashton’s duties during these stoops included player development, recruiting, scouting, and film breakdown.
 
Jordan started his athletic career at Northwest Missouri state where he played guard for the 2012-2014 seasons. From there he transferred to Kirkwood Community College where he played guard for the 2014-2015 season and was named 1st team All-American. From there Ashton would go on to walk on at Iowa State University where he would later earn an athletic scholarship. He would earn his bachelor’s degree in Liberal studies while at Iowa State. He would then use his graduate transfer and play his last season at Northern Iowa where he earned his Master’s in Human Services.
