Noah Pauley

Noah Pauley embarks on his fifth season with the Bulldog coaching staff and third as their offensive coordinator.

Pauley, a Bulldog football alumnus, debuted in style two seasons ago, sitting at the control of a UMD offense that rolled up the second-most yards (536.7 per game) and sixth most points (45.1 per game -- the second highest figure in program history) of any NCAA II club in the country. His Bulldogs also ranked fourth nationally in third down conversion efficiency (52.2 percent), fourth in first downs (326), 13th in rushing yards (233.4 ypg) and 14th in passing yards (303.3 ypg). All eleven of his starters received some type of All-NSIC recognition that year and 10 did so last fall.

A native of Duluth, Pauley took over the offensive coordinator position at his alma mater on Feb. 8, 2016. He had spent three prior seasons as a member of the Bulldog coaching staff after closing out a rewarding collegiate playing career.

From 2013-14, Pauley was a graduate assistant coach, overseeing UMD's wide receivers, a unit that included All-American Aaron Roth and Zach Zweifel, the fourth leading all-time catch leader in Bulldog history. He joined the UMD coaching staff as a student assistant in the spring of 2011 -- a few months after he hung up his collegiate spikes. In 47 career outings, the former Duluth Central High School three-sport star hauled in 100 passes (a milestone only 11 other Bulldogs have ever reached) for 1,108 yards and nine touchdowns. He made his final catch as a Bulldog in UMD's NCAA II quarterfinal round victory over Augustana University on Dec. 4, 2010 – and suffered a season-ending clavicle injury that same afternoon, forcing him to take in the national championship game two weeks later from the sidelines. After cutting his collegiate teeth as a true freshman in 2007, Pauley proceeded to pace the Bulldogs in both punt and kick returns the following season when they captured their second NCAA II crown in three years. As a junior, Pauley brought back 16 of the team's 17 punts.

Pauley, who was the assistant dean of students and athletic director at Duluth's Edison's North Star Academy before rejoining the Bulldog family, earned both a B.S. degree in criminology (2012) and a Master's degree in education (2014) from UMD. He and his wife, Hannah, reside in Duluth with their daughters Ada and Lena.
