A total of 18 Bulldog student-athletes have been named to the UMD Athletic Academic Support Center Scholar List for maintaining the highest cumulative grade point average during the 2002-03 school year in their respective sports.
Four seniors, seven juniors, four sophomores and three freshmen, all of whom were 2002-03 letterwinners, comprise the Athletic Academic Support Center’s Scholar List which follows:

In addition, the Athletic Academic Support Center, now concluding its 18th year of operation, listed a record 197 student-athletes (out of a group of 433) with grade point averages of 3.00 or better for the past spring semester. Of that group, 112 achieved grade point averages of 3.40 or above and 24 individuals finished with a perfect 4.00 GPA. In all, UMD student-athletes maintained a average cumulative GPA of 2.86. The Bulldog volleyball contingent posted the best overall GPA as a team for the year with a 3.48 figure.
On the individual front, junior Heather Hamilton was named to the Verizon Academic All-American Cross Country/Track & Field third team while junior flanker Tim Battaglia earned Verizon Academic All-District V football second team honors. Senior middle hitter Becky Kukowski landed Verizon Academic All-District V volleyball third team recognition.
