Some 75 men who once donned a Bulldog uniform where greeted by near-perfect weather conditions at the University of Minnesota Duluth Hockey Alumni Weekend this past Friday and Saturday in Duluth.
The annual two-day event began with a barbeque (and later a cruise) Friday night outside the DECC, the home of Bulldog hockey the past 38 years and concluded with the 18-hole Bulldog Alumni Classic the following afternoon. The quartet of Brett Hauer, Rick Mrozik,
Derek Plante, and Shjon Podein captured last place honors (shooting 38 over par) at the tournament, which was held at the historic Northland Country Club.
\"Good times and good weather -- you couldn't really ask for much more,\" said UMD Director of Athletic Development Skeeter Moore, who skated with the Bulldogs during the mid-1980s. \"
Scott Sandelin has done a terrific job with spearheading this thing and every year it gets better and better.\"
