IRWIN TABBED WCHA ROOKIE OF THE WEEK FOR FIRST PLACE BULLDOGS

Welcome to the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, Haley Irwin.

The freshman forward from Thunder Bay, Ontario was named the WCHA Rookie of the Week for her point-garnering performances against the University of North Dakota. Irwin notched a goal in each game as the No. 4 University of Minnesota Duluth women's hockey team took over first place in the conference after sweeping the Sioux 9-2 and 3-2 this past weekend.

The Team Canada U-22 member netted a tally and four assists in the series opener before adding a goal in Sunday's contest. Irwin is currently tied for second as one of the top point getters for UMD (4-6=10) in her first 10 college appearances.

Irwin, who becomes the fourth UMD player to be named a WCHA Player of the Week this season, and her fellow WCHA-leading Bulldogs will resume play next weekend when they host the No. 6 University of Minnesota Saturday and Sunday at the DECC. Game-time for Saturday's contest starts at 3:37 p.m..
