BULLDOGS JUMP TO NO. 6 IN FINAL REGULAR SEASON AFCA II POLL

And now there are five.

With one week remaining in the 2008-09 regular season, only five NCAA Division II schools have yet to taste defeat. The University of Minnesota Duluth is one of them.

The Bulldogs, who are the only 10-0 club in the country at the moment, leaped up two slots to the No. 6 post -- equaling their highest ranking ever -- in this week's American Football Coaches Association Division II poll. The other four remaining unbeatens besides UMD, which was also ranked sixth in that same poll two weeks ago, are No. 1 Grand Valley State University (9-0), No. 2 Abilene Christian University (9-0), No. 11 Tuskegee University (9-0), which does not compete in the NCAA II playoffs, and No. 16 American International University (9-0).

In addition, the Bulldogs remained slotted at the No. 2 position in the NCAA II Super Regional Three (behind unbeaten and top-ranked Grand Valley State) for the fifth consecutive week and are second in the seventh in the latest D2Football.com poll. UMD will host Winona State University this Saturday (Nov. 8) in its 2008 regular season finale.
