CONNOLLYS BOTH LISTED AMONG TOP 10 NCAA PLAYERS IN HOCKEY'S FUTURE DRAFT PREVIEW

University of Minnesota Duluth rookies Mike Connolly and Jack Connolly each have been ranked among the top 10 NCAA prospects for the upcoming National Hockey League draft by Hockey's Future.

Mike Connolly (No. 6) , a right winger from Calgary, Alberta, finished second among all NCAA freshmen in scoring last winter with 13 goals and 29 assists for 42 points -- the most by a UMD newcomer in six seasons. Connolly, who sported the team's best-plus minus rating (plus-11), was a WCHA All-Rookie Team pick as well as an insidecollegehockey.com Freshman All-America honoree. He put an exclamation point on his sensational debut year by collecting eight points in the final four outings while landing a spot on both the WCHA Final Five All-Tournament and NCAA West Regional All-Tournament teams.

Jack Connolly (No. 10), who skated a regular shift at center in all 43 games past season ranked fouth on the 2008-09 UMD scoring charts with 29 points (a total surpassed by only five other WCHA freshmen) on 10 goals and 19 assists. The Duluth Marshall School graduate was also a plus-8 on the season and put the third most shots on goal (102) of any Bulldog.

The 2009 NHL draft will be held on the June 26 -27 at the Bell Centre in Montreal.
