THREE FUTURE BULLDOGS PLUCKED IN NHL DRAFT

Three future University of Minnesota Duluth pucksters -- defenseman Dylan Olsen, winger Dan DeLisle and center Max Tardy -- were chosen in the National Hockey League Entry Draft this past weekend in Montreal.

Olsen, a native of Calgary, Alberta, became just the third Bulldog ever to go in the first round as the Chicago Black Hawks made him the 28th selection overall. The 2009 Royal Bank Cup Canadian Junior Hockey Player of the Year Award finalist joins defenseman Matt Niskanen (Dallas Stars in 2005, 28th overall) and forward Larry Wright (Detroit Red Wings in 1971, 8th overall) in that select group.

DeLisle, a 2009 graduate of Totino-Grace High School and Arden Hills, Minn., product, was the Blackhawks' third-round pick (89th overall) while Tardy, who closed out a prosperous career at Duluth East High School last March and will strut his stuff in the United States Hockey League in 2009-10, was drafted by the St. Louis Blues (202nd).

In addition to Olsen and DeLisle, the 2009-10 Bulldog roster will contain three other NHL draftees in senior center Jordan Fulton (Calgary Flames), sophomore defenseman Scott Kishel (Montreal Canadiens) and incoming freshman blueliner Drew Olson (Columbus Blue Jackets).
