Caleb Herbert, who figured in on four goals in the University of Minnesota Duluth's two-game sweep over Minnesota State University-Mankato last weekend, has been chosen the Red Baron® Western Collegiate Hockey Association Rookie of the Week.
A 5-11, 195-pound freshman left winger from Bloomington, Minn., Herbert enjoyed the most productive night of his young collegiate career Friday when he struck for two goals, including the game-winner, and one assist while helping lead the Bulldogs to a 5-2 triumph. He then tallied once as UMD and extended its unbeaten streak to a nation-leading 10 games. Hebert, who was a +4 in the series opener (a 2011-12 Bulldog single-game high), holds down the No. 2 spot in the WCHA rookie scoring race with 14 six goals and eight assists and has picked up at least one point in five straight outings.
