IT'S UNANIMOUS -- UMD IS STILL NATION'S TOP DOG

After turning in an impressive two-game road sweep over nationally-ranked Western Michigan University last weekend, the University of Minnesota Duluth maintained its stranglehold on the No. 1 spot in both USCHO.com and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls -- and did so in unanimous fashion.

The defending NCAA national champion Bulldogs, received all 50 first-place votes from the USCHO.com pollsters and each of the 30 first-place votes in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll while topping both rankings for a fifth consecutive week. That's the longest stretch a UMD club has ever have occupied the No.1 position in any national poll.

UMD, which is riding a school-record 16-game unbeaten streak (13-0-3), sports the besting winning percentage in the country (.775 off a 14-3-3 overall record) and owns a share of first place in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association standings at 10-2-2, will be at the University of Nebraska Omaha this weekend for a pair of WCHA clashes
