The University of Minnesota Duluth fell for the second time in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference competition this season as No. 3 Minnesota State University edged the Bulldogs 1-0 in Mankato on Sunday afternoon.

Sophomore goalkeeper Marissa Rosa made eight saves to keep the Bulldogs' (10-3-0, 9-2-0 NSIC) hopes alive, holding the Mavericks (13-1-0, 11-0-0 NSIC) to their lowest scoring output of the season. Minnesota State had scored 21 goals over its previous four NSIC matches.

The two teams took a scorless tie into the halftime break, but MSU's Emily Erickson netted her second of the year in the 54th minute, a high shot just over the outstretched arms of a leaping Rosa. Junior forward Maureen Stormont had three shots in the match. She and senior forward Dani Potter each contributed one shot on net as the Bulldogs were shut out for just the second time in 2013. UMD finished with nine shots in the match while the Mavericks took 17.

The Bulldogs will return to Malosky Stadium next weekend to play host to Minnesota State University-Moorhead on Saturday and Northern State University on Sunday. Both matches are set for a 1:00 p.m. kick-off.
