Box Score The University of Minnesota Duluth finishes the non-conference portion of its regular season schedule with a perfect 10-0 record after sweeping Northern Michigan University in three sets at Romano Gymnasium on Tuesday evening.
UMD (16-1) will defend its 6-1 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference record the rest of the way after downing the Wildcats (12-4, 6-1 GLIAC) by set scores of 25-17, 25-17. and 25-12. The first set was a knock-down, drag-out fight which saw the Bulldogs trailing error before coming back to tie it at 14-all. From there, UMD scored 11 of the final 14 points to take the set. Game two told a different story but with the same result, UMD sprung out early, leading 16-9 before nursing the lead to the 25-17 final. In the final set, the Bulldogs showed their dominance:Â they scored the first five points and continued to build on that lead before downing the Wildcats by a 13-point margin.

Ashley Hinsch talllied 31 of UMD's 36 assists in the match. The Bulldogs held NMU to just an .072 kill percentage while attacking at a .314 rate themselves.
UMD hits the road this weekend as it re-enters NSIC play, beginning with a 7:00 p.m. match-up against Minot State University on Friday evening. From there, the Bulldogs travel to Bismarck, N.D. to take on the University of Mary on Saturday evening, and that match is set for a 6:00 p.m. opening serve.
