The University of Minnesota Duluth got an early start to its 2013-14 indoor track and field season this weekend by competing in The Opener at the Burns Wellness Fieldhouse on the College of St. Scholastica campus.
The two-day, four-team event wrapped up this afternoon and among the highlights for UMD were 10 individual first-place finishes. Those included junior Phil D'Entremont (600-meter run; 1:22.87), senior captain
Cole Toepfer (mile run; 4:16.72-and a Burns Wellness Fieldhouse record), senior
Jason Coffin (1,000-meter run; 2:32.12), junior
Holden Olson (200-meter dash; 23.44), junior
Aaron Handorff (3,000-meter run; 9:11.36), senior
Nathan Knop (high jump; 1.95 meters, 6-04.75), freshman
Jason Lilja (long jump; 6.68 meters, 21-11.00), junior captain
Nick Moran (weight throw; 16.16 meters, 53-00.25), freshman
Nick Krouse (triple jump; 12.33 meters, 40-05.50) and sophomore
Appo Agbamu (shot put; 14.75 meters, 48-04.75).
The Bulldogs will now be off until Jan. 11 when they head to St. Paul, Minn. for the Bethel University Open.
