Box Score The No. 1 ranked University of Minnesota Duluth volleyball team improved to 9-0 on the year in its 2013 Romano Gymnasium debut Tuesday night with a three-set non-conference sweep of Michigan Tech University.

For the Bulldogs offensively, it was the Monica Turner show. The sophomore middle blocker hit .667 in the match with 13 kills and just one attack error. Senior outside hitter Kate Lange reached another milestone in the match, clubbing 10 kills to surpass the 1,600-plateau for her career while reshman middle blocker Sydnie Mauch chipped in with 10 kills.

Junior libero Julie Rainey led the Bulldogs with 12 digs on the night and sophomore setter Ashley Hinsch added a team-best 41 assists.

Before the match, the Bulldogs honored head coach Jim Boos for his 300th career victory earlier this season. With tonight's 25-14, 25-18, 25-14 win, he sits at 307, just three behind Pati Rolf for the most in program history.

The Bulldogs return to Romano Gymnasium this Thursday night as they open Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play against the University of Minnesota-Crookston at 7:00 p.m. UMD has won 17 straight NSIC openers, and 21 straight conference openers overall.
