SEVEN STRAIGHT WINS FOR THE NO. 9 BULLDOGS AFTER 1-0 TRIUMPH OVER ST. CLOUD

The No. 9 Bulldogs are on a roll.

One day after scolding St. Cloud State University 6-1, the University of Minnesota Duluth women's hockey team earned their third-consecutive series sweep with a 1-0 win over the Huskies in St. Cloud, Minn. Saturday afternoon.  The triumph extends the Bulldogs' current winning streak to seven games, the most by a UMD squad since the 2010-2011 season.  The win also secures third place in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association for the Bulldogs.

The lone goal of the game came at 17:22 of the first period on senior center Brienna Gillanders' third tally of the season.  The assists on the score  were credited to junior forward Jenna McParland and sophomore winger Ashleigh Brykaliuk, who both extended their scoring streaks with the helper.  Brykaliuk has now compiled five goals and six assists for 11 points in that six-game span, while McParland has recorded three goals and four assists in her last five skaters.

UMD outshot the SCSU 29-18, and junior goaltender Kayla Black picked up her 13th career shutout and her fourth of the season after her 18 save performance.

The Bulldogs (8-4-2, 5-4-1 in the WCHA) will step out of league play next weekend to host Cornell at AMSOIL Arena next weekend.  Friday's game will start at 4:07 p.m. because of the City of the North Parade,  while Saturday's games are set for 6:07 p.m.
