Kasimir Kaskisuo, who backstopped the University of Minnesota Duluth to back-to-back victories over the University of Minnesota last weekend and gave up just one goal in the process, has been chosen the Bauer National Collegiate Hockey Conference Goalie of the Week.
It was the second time the Vantaa, Finland, has been recognized by the NCHC in 2014-15 with the other citation -- Rookie of the Week -- coming on Oct. 27. (Bulldog junior
Matt McNeely was the first recipient of the Goalie of the Week award this season).
In Friday's home-and-home series opener with the then-No. 1 ranked Gophers in Minneapolis, Kaskisuo rejected all 17 shots Minnesota fired his way en route to posting UMD's fourth shutout ever against its long-time intrastate adversary and first on the road since Feb. 23, 1973. He then made 24 saves the next night at AMSOIL Arena as he and the Bulldogs completed their first weekend sweep of Minnesota in 11 years.
In his last five appearances, Kaskisuo is 5-0-0 with a 1.39 goals against average and a .949 saves percentage.
