The University of Minnesota Duluth extended its undefeated streak to three games, ending the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference regular season with a scoreless tie in double overtime at the University of Minnesota-Crookston on Sunday afternoon.
UMD (8-9-1, 8-6-1 NSIC) finishes tied for seventh in conference play and will travel to second-seed Augustana (S.D.) College in the opening round of the NSIC/U.S. Bank Tournament on Wednesday afternoon. Minnesota-Crookston (6-6-6, 5-5-5 NSIC) fell just outside of the playoff field in ninth place in the league.

UMD finished with 14 shots in the match, five on goal while the Bulldog defense earned its second-straight shutout, allowing just 10 shots by UMC and just three on-net. The entire game was a defensive effort by both teams, with Crookston's Miranda Mosher taking the lone shot in the first overtime before the Golden Eagle defense and goalkeeper Lexie Gauger stopped the Bulldogs' sustained effort in the final frame, including a stop against Beatt in the 106th minute to secure the shutout.
UP NEXTThe Bulldogs punched their ticket to the NSIC Tournament with their three-game unbeaten streak to end the regular season. Action starts Wednesday with games hosted by the top four seeds and the tournament continuing this weekend with semifinals and finals hosted by the top remaining seed. Wednesday's tournament opener for UMD will be in Sioux Falls at 2:00 p.m.
