University of Minnesota Duluth sophomore James Ryan placed ninth out of 12 competitors at the 2014 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Heptathlon Championships, which wrapped up today in Mankato, Minn.

Ryan, a native of Oakdale, Minn., racked up 4,031 points during the two-day event with his highest finish coming in the 60-meter hurdles where he place third in a time of 8.72 seconds. One other Bulldog, junior Brooks Zamzow, also took part in the meet, but did not finish.
