BULLDOGS LEAVE ARKANSAS WITH DOUBLEHEADER SPLIT AGAINST ARKANSAS-MONTICELLO

The Bulldogs will be back inside the WSP dome for first time this year on Sunday. UMD went a perfect 9-0 in the dome last season.
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Sophomore infielder Dalyce Gustafson blasted a home run in the top of the seventh to break a scoreless tie and junior infielder Jordan Rice added an insurance run later in the inning to power the University of Minnesota Duluth past the University of Arkansas-Monticello in the final day of the UAM 8-State Classic.

The Bulldogs dropped a tough 2-0 decision in game one to the Blossoms before reversing course earning their fourth straight split to start the 2014 season. UMD had an opportunity late with the bases juiced in the top of the seventh but Arkansas-Monticello was able to get out of the jam and blank UMD.

Sophomore pitcher Cayli Sadler picked up the win tossing the final two innings after subbing for starter, Sam Hartmann. The duo of Hartmann and Sadler pitched the first shutout of the season.

The Bulldogs, who finished the four-day tournament in Bentonville, Ark. at an even 4-4, will match up against Lincoln University (11 a.m.) and Fort Hays State (1 p.m.) next Sunday. The non-conference slate will be played at the West St. Paul Regional Athletic Center in West St. Paul, Minn.
