UMD FACES UPPER IOWA FOR SECOND TIME IN TWO WEEKS IN NSIC TOURNAMENT OPENER

The University of Minnesota Duluth will take the familiar trip to Fayette, Iowa for the second time in as many weeks to take on Upper Iowa University in the opening round of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference/Sanford Health Basketball Tournament on Wednesday evening.

UMD (12-14, 10-12 NSIC) closed out the regular season with a pair of wins at Romano Gym, finishing the regular season with four more wins than a year ago and four more conference wins, as well. The Bulldogs will look to extend their season against Upper Iowa in a rematch from just 12 days ago.

Senior guard
added 21 points off the bench on 10-of-18 shooting along with seven reboudns and a pair of steals. Reetz had a game-high 27 points and Zoelle added 12 points. With its full cast in tow, the Bulldogs will look to get their win back against UIU and extend the season into the weekend in Sioux Falls. The winner between UMD and Upper Iowa will advance to take on the winner of Wednesday night's Concordia-St. Paul/Minnesota State Moorhead on Saturday in the quarterfinals. Opening tip of Wednesday's first round game is set for 7:00 p.m. in Fayette.
