The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference coaches have spoken and they collectively slotted the University of Minnesota Duluth in a tie for fourth place in the 2014 NSIC Outdoor Track and Field Coaches Poll. Defending league outdoor champion Minnesota State University-Mankato was the unanimous No. 1 pick, collecting 11 of 12 first place votes (coaches were not allowed to vote for their own teams) and 121 points. The Mavericks were followed by Augustana College (111pts.), the University of Sioux Falls (99 pts.), UMD and St. Cloud State University (85 pts.), the University of Mary (71 pts.) and Minnesota State University-Moorhead (62 pts.). The Buldogs, whose last NSIC outdoor team title conquest came in 2004, were seventh at the 2013 conference meet.
