BULLDOGS UNVEIL 2014-15 MEN'S HOCKEY SCHEDULE

A season-opening trip to South Bend, Ind., for the Ice Breaker Invitational and as many as 17 clashes with 2014 NCAA playoff participants, including a home-and-home November series with long-time rival University of Minnesota, are among the highlights of the 2014-15 University of Minnesota Duluth men's hockey schedule.

The Bulldogs will launch their 71st season of intercollegiate competition on Oct. 10 by taking on Minnesota in the first round of the Ice Breaker Invitational on the campus of the University of Notre Dame. They'll make their 2014-15 home debut one week later with a non-conference engagement against former Western Collegiate Hockey Association adversary Minnesota State University-Mankato before completing that two-game set the ensuing evening in Mankato. The University of Denver is scheduled to pay a visit to AMSOIL Arena the following weekend for the opening of UMD's second year of National Collegiate Hockey Conference play. During the course of the 2014-15 regular season, the Bulldogs will also play host to Miami University (Oct. 31-Nov. 1), Minnesota (Nov. 15) Colorado College (Dec. 5-6), Western Michigan University (Jan. 16-17), Northern Michigan University (Feb. 6-7), St. Cloud State University (Feb. 13-14) and the University of Nebraska-Omaha (Feb. 27-28) as part of their 16-game home slate. UMD will face Denver, Miami, Nebraska-Omaha, St. Cloud State and Western Michigan four times each next winter and the other two remaining NCHC clubs (Colorado College and the University of North Dakota -- Jan. 9-10 in Grand Forks, N.D.) twice. Denver, Minnesota, Minnesota State-Mankato, North Dakota, Notre Dame (which faces Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the other Ice Breaker Invitational semifinal on Oct. 10), and St. Cloud State all qualified for the NCAA Tournament this past spring.

The Bulldogs, whose strength of schedule ranked first among all NCAA I schools in the country last season, had the nation's sixth best average home attendance (6,183 per game) in 2013-14

The Bulldogs have released new and improved season ticket holder benefits for 2014-15 along with family friendly ticket packages.  Those interested in purchasing 2014-15 UMD season tickets (and saving 20% off the price of single-game tickets) can do so by calling the UMD Ticket Office at 218-726-8595.
