The University of Minnesota Duluth tuned up for next weekend's Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Outdoor Championship by competing in the Meet of the UnSaintly, and the Bulldogs got top-five finishes from eight different individuals at the two-day event, which wrapped up Saturday afternoon on the campus of Hamline University in St. Paul, Minn.
Leading the charge were juniors
Nick Moran, who took first in hammer throw (55.94 meters) and second in the discus (48.70 meters), and
Dan Nielsen, who won the 3,000-meter steeplechase race with a personal-best (and NCAA II provisional-qualifying) time of 9:15.82. Other Bulldogs placing among the top five finishers included junior
Chris Wilson in the 800-meter run (2nd place; 1:56.17), senior
Nathan Knop in the javelin throw (2nd; 49.50 meters), junior
Phil d'Entremont in the 400-meter run (3rd; 50.30), freshman
Devin Sowers in the shot put (4th; 14.05 meters), senior
Cole Toepfer in the 1,500-meter run (5th; 3:58.61) and junior Jake Nelson in the 200-meter dash (5th place in 22.21).
UMD's 4 x 400 relay unit of d'Entremont, Nelson, junior
Justin Adams and senior Nick Pederson also placed fourth.
