University of Minnesota Duluth senior middle blocker Monica Turner sits just one block shy of tying a 24-year old Bulldog career record as UMD eyes a rematch against Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference rival No. 4 Concordia University, St. Paul on Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldog blocking record, held by Joleyn Young ('91), is 363 total blocks (solo and assisted). Young also holds the record for solo blocks with 127 -- a mark not likely to be matched anytime soon. Turner collected five blocks on Tuesday night for No. 8 UMD (16-5, 9-3 NSIC) against St. Cloud State University bringing her to 362 in her career. She's shot up the charts this season entering 2015 with 286, already with 76 on the season, an average of 1.00 per game which well exceeds her career average of 0.83/set. Turner's 13 solo blocks through play on Tuesday night have brought her to 65 in her career, good for eighth place all-time. The last person to get even close to Young's 127 was current Bulldog assistant coach Kate Lange ('13) who totalled 108 solo blocks in her career.

UMD will travel to Minnesota State University Mankato on Friday night before the rematch from an Oct. 6 defeat at Romano Gym by Concordia-St. Paul on Saturday afternoon in St. Paul.
