Mandy Pearson has signed four to her first Bulldog recruiting class during the 2015 early signing period.
A 6-foot forward from Oakdale, Minnesota, Sami Schneider joins UMD after a five-year player career for Hill-Murray High School. Entering her senior season as a team captain, she is a two-time All-Metro East Conference selection. She earned the Minnesota Basketball News Top 100 Expo Showcase MVP honors in 2015 and helped lead Hill-Murray to a pair of state tournaments in her career. She received the team's Coaches Award and "Unsung Hero" award during her career. She was also a four-year middle blocker for Hill Murray's volleyball team at an All-Conference level, making a pair of state tournament appearances. Her parents were both athletes at Ripon College with her mother, Joyce, playing volleyball and father, Gene, playing basketball. Off the court, Schneider was a National Honor Society member, peer tutor, Link Leader, and honor roll student. She's currently undecided on a major at UMD.
No relation to her future teammate, 5-foot-9-inch point guard Taylor Schneider comes to UMD from Turtle Lake, Wisconsin. She enters her senior season as a four-year starter for Turtle Lake High School. She earned First Team All-Lakeland West Conference honors and was voted Team MVP the past three seasons. During her career, she has led the team in scoring and assists every year and rebounding as a junior. She also earned all-conference honors as an outside hitter in volleyball and as a shortstop in softball. Off the court, Schneider was a member of National Honor Society, Student Council, drama club, and choir. She plans to major in biology at UMD.
Rounding out the early class is 5-foot-11-inch Katie Stark of Hayward, Wisconsin. She stared each of the past three seasons for Hayward High School, leading the Hurricanes to Heart of the North Conference titles each of the last two seasons and regional titles the past three seasons. She was named All-Conference the past two seasons and took home the honors of All-Northwest Region, Associated Press Honorable Mention, and a Division 3 WBCA All-State selection as a junior. Stark also played three seasons of volleyball as a middle hitter, earning all-conference honors as a senior and three seasons of track & field running relays and high jump. Off the court, she served on the National Honor Society, earned a spot on the -Honor roll, and participated in Cross Age Peer Educators, Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), and student council. She plans to major in biology at UMD.
All signings are contingent upon admission to UMD and compliance with NCAA rules, including certification by the NCAA Clearinghouse.
