UMD Women's Basketball Announces Bonnie Jensen and Brynn Olson as New Assistant Coaches

University of Minnesota Duluth women's basketball coach Brooke Olson announced the rest of her coaching staff Monday with the addition of assistant coaches Bonnie Jensen and Brynn Olson.

Jensen joins the Bulldogs as its first assistant coach after spending the past two seasons as the graduate assistant at the University of Dubuque. While in Dubuque, Iowa, Jensen coached three American Rivers Conference All-Conference post players. Jensen was responsible for  analyzing opponents providing full scouting reports, playing high intensity and small group workouts and evaluated and recruited high level Division III athletes.

"I couldn't be more excited to add Bonnie to our staff," said head coach Olson. "Her passion for building relationships, competitive edge, and work ethic all align with the standard of our program. What excites me most is her experience combined with her eagerness to continue growing. Bonnie understands what it takes to succeed, and I know she will be outstanding in this role. Our program is lucky to have her."

A native of Muskego, Wis., Jensen, who served as a head AAU basketball coach with Chapman Basketball Academy from March 2022 through August 2023, played four seasons for Ripon College from 2019-24. A four-time NCAA Midwest Conference All-Conferencer performer (2020-24), Jensen helped Ripon to a 80-33 overall record over her tenure and Midwest Conference Championships in every season she was suited up – which included two NCAA Tournament appearances in 2022 and 2024. Jensen was also an Academic All-Conference selection in 2019-20, 2021-22 and 2023-24.

"I'm incredibly grateful and excited for the opportunity to join the women's basketball staff at Minnesota Duluth," said Jensen. "The tradition, culture, and people within this program immediately stood out to me, and I'm looking forward to building relationships with our student-athletes and helping contribute to the continued success of the Bulldogs."

Jensen earned her Masters of Management in Sports Management from the University of Dubuque this month, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Ripon College in May of 2024.

Olson returns to Duluth after playing two seasons with St. Cloud State University (2024-2026) after suiting up for the Bulldogs from 2022-2024. Olson was a 2025-26 NSIC Winter All-Academic Team member, a WBCA Academic Top-25 Team Honor Roll team member (spring of 2025), as well as a six-time Dean's List honoree at both UMD and SCSU. Olson was a member of the Bulldogs 2023 NCAA Division II National Runner-Up team and both the 2023 NSIC Tournament and NSIC Regular Season Champions.

"I am incredibly blessed to have Brynn join our staff, her basketball mind and attention to detail are truly one of a kind," said head coach Olson. "She has the ability to challenge everyone around her to become the best version of themselves, and her experience within the NSIC is invaluable. Brynn will help push this program toward its goals, and she has a very bright future in this profession."

Hailing from Rice Lake, Wis, Olson is currently enrolled in the Masters of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance at SCSU, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing in December 2025 from SCSU with a 4.0 cumulative GPA.

"I am so grateful to for this opportunity," said Olson. "I believe in this program and the vision coach Olson has for this team. I am exited to develop our player, build strong relationships, and help our team continue the championship tradition."
