?A combined 38 turnovers bogged down play between the University of Minnesota Duluth and Winona State University on Saturday afternoon, but an 0-for-19 shooting mark from three-point range put UMD on the wrong end of a sloppy outing by both teams, falling 67-47 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play at Romano Gymnasium.
UMD (11-11, 9-9 NSIC) falls back to even on the season as it fights for playoff positioning in the final weeks of the season, while Winona State (17-5, 13-5 NSIC) secures its footing in the NSIC South Division.

Taylor Meyer just missed a double-double with 10 points and a game-high eight rebounds for the Bulldogs, with senior guard
Danielle Flood leading the way on the scoreboard with 12 points on 6-of-14 shooting. Nine different players had at least a basket for UMD.
• Sophomore center Kayla Timmerman led all scorers with 20 points off the bench for WSU, shooting 9-of-14 while hauling in four rebounds. Freshman forward Hannah McGlone had six boards to lead the Warriors.
With neither team shooting particularly well out of the blocks, Winona State led 5-4 after five minutes of play and the first media timeout. The Warriors quickly regained their composure and opened up a 19-4 lead thanks to a 14-0 run ove the next five minutes. Junior guard
Taylor Dillinger finally broke the skid with 9:30 to play in the half, and senior guard
Jessica Newman trimmed it to 11 off a Winona State turnover, but the Warriors succesfully held the Bulldogs at bay through the rest of the game.
UMD scored 43 points over the final 29:30, but Winona State continued its hot shooting and scored 48 to take home a 20-point victory. After shooting just 20 percent 97-of-35) in the first half, the Bulldogs were 13-of-31 after the break to finish at 30.3 percent for the game. Winona State shot 50.0 percent in the second half and almost for the game, finishing 48-of-57 (49.1 percent). UMD was 0-of-10 from three-point range in the first half and couldn't get any to fall in nine attempts after the break. Taking out three-point attempts, UMD shot 42.6 percent for the game. Each team had 19 turnovers in the game.

The Bulldogs will head out on their final road trip of the regular season next weekend for rematches with Minnesota State University-Moorhead and Northern State University, the two teams ahead of UMD in the NSIC North Division standings. The action gets underway Friday night in Moorhead with a 6:00 p.m. tip-off.
