Backed by a season-high 34 field goals, the University of Minnesota Duluth defeated the University of Minnesota Crookston 84-77 Saturday afternoon at Romano Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs (3-3 overall; 2-1 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) reeled off 27 points in the second quarter on 12-23 shooting (52.2%) against the Golden Eagles (0-6; 0-2 NSIC) as part of a season-high 47 first half points.
Sophomore guard
Sammy Kozlowski led the way for UMD in the first half, scoring 14 on 6-8 shooting. Kozlowski would finish with 19 points on 8-13 shooting. Senior forward
Taylor Meyer topped all players with 20 points on 8-20 shooting while adding 11 rebounds and four assists. Freshman forward
Josie Buckley was responsible for 15 of the 29 bench points for UMD. Buckley shot 6-11 and grabbed seven rebounds.Â
UMC entered the game dead last in the NSIC in field goal percentage (32.8%) and ranked second-to -ast in points per game (59.8). The Golden Eagles shot a cool 46.3 percent on 25-54 shooting against the Bulldogs and went 11-20 from beyond the arc.
UMD will hit the road to play Southwest Minnesota State University on Friday (Dec. 9) and Sioux Falls on the following night.
