University of Minnesota Duluth junior Breanna Colbenson has been chosen the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for her exemplary performances at the Drake Relays.

The Elemwood, Wis., All-American captured the 3,000-meter steeplechase title on Saturday -- three days after taking second among 24 runners in the 5,000-meter run race. Her school-record steeplechase time of 10:21.11 not only automatically qualified for the upcoming NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships, but it also was the third fastest clocking at the nation to date.  She came in at 16:38.38 in the 5,000-meter event, eclipsing the previous program mark of 16:29.73 set by her former teammate, Sam Rivard, at the 2013 Drake Relays.

This marks the second time this season, Colbenson has been been so honored by the NSIC with the other coming on April 18.
