The University of Minnesota Duluth Football team announced its 2016 promotional schedule today.  Kicking off the season, UMD Football will host Winona State in the 2016 home opener on Sept. 10 at 6:00 p.m.  This will be the stage for the annual Military Appreciation Day game.

UMD is partnering with local military organizations, including the 148th Fighter Wing, to raise money and awareness for Operation One Voice. Operation One Voice is a program designed by police officers, firefighters and community leaders to generate funds to help support the immediate needs of children and families of wounded and fallen Special Operations Forces.  In addition to the game, on Sunday (Sept. 11) UMD is partnering with Northland Subway to raise funds for Operation One Voice.  On Sunday fans can visit any Northland Subway and receive a BUY ONE 6" GET ONE 6" with DONATION.  

Tickets to the game, which kicks off at 6:05 p.m. at James S. Malosky Stadium, are free to all current and former members of the military (with an ID) and just $5.00 for military spouses and children. Ticket information can be found here. In honor of the servicemen and women of the Armed Forces, Bulldog players will wear special camo pants.  The Bulldogs have also partnered with Universal Athletics to bring a limited edition Bulldog camo hat that will be sold for $25 (quantities limited).  In addition, UMD has a number of tributes planned for military personnel throughout the game, and will conduct a free football clinic for all youths in grades 3-8 from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. at the UMD recreation fields. To round out the fall promotions for the season, the Bulldogs will be inviting back the 1986 and 1996 teams for a special reunion as well as feature a youth football day on Sept. 24 with all youth football players 12 and under wearing their jersey receiving free admission.  The annual Homcoming game is set for Oct. 15 when UMD takes on Northern State University.  At the Bulldogs' final two games of the regular season home schedule, the Bulldogs will honor UMD faculty/staff (Oct. 22) and the 2016 senior class (Nov. 5).
