The University of Minnesota Duluth was not content with sweeping the competition in the Ferris State University Invitational last weekend. UMD (8-0 overall) was back at it again - concluding yet another tournament this weekend without a loss in the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Tournament. Saturday proved much of the same as the Bulldogs secured straight set wins over UW-Parkside and Michigan Tech University on Saturday afternoon in Kenosha, Wis.
UMD 3, UW-PARKSIDE 0
In the opening game, Rangers held their ground early and pulled to within two points of UMD (11-9). The Bulldogs then proceeded to go on a 14-4 run (getting kills from five different players) to take the set 25-13. UMD hit an efficient .565 in the opening set compared to UW-Parkside's .143, which happened to be their best attack percentage throughout the match.
The Bulldogs came out strong and took the second set by a nearly identical score of 25-12, led by three kills from sophomore outside hitter

Taylor Wissbroecker added five digs seven total digs in the second set, while UMD hit .208 on 24 attacks. The third and final set proved to be much closer with the Bulldogs edging out Parkside by a score of 25-22. Freshman setter
Emily Torve continued to consistently aid UMD's offense by recording 31 assists in addition to seven digs.
UMD 3, MICHIGAN TECH 0
The Bulldogs took the court for the final time this weekend to face off against Michigan Tech. UMD used three runs of four or more points to vault to a quick 25-13 first set victory. Junior middle blocker
Allison Olley recorded six kills on seven attacks (.857) to boost the Bulldogs offensively. UMD continued to attack efficiently, hitting .452 in the opening set.
In the second set, the Bulldogs jumped out to an 11-8 early lead before turning a corner and grabbing six of the next seven points. UMD held Michigan Tech to hitting just .000 (nine attacks, nine errors) while hitting .253 themselves. The Bulldogs kept up their consistency by taking the third and final set by a score of 25-19. Wissbroecker led the team with 12 kills on the match, followed by Olley (11) and Morgen (9). Olley also added a career and UMD season best of seven blocks. Sophomore libero
Erin Schindler led the team with 12 digs overall.
After grabbing two more wins in three straight sets on Saturday, the Bulldogs have now won 16 sets in a row, dating back to Sept. 3 against Ferris State. This is also the eighth straight win for UMD – its longest streak since the 2014 season.
The Bulldogs will begin Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play next week as they travel to the University of Minnesota-Crookston on Thursday (Sept. 15). UMD makes its 2016 home debut with a match against Bemidji State on Saturday (Sept. 17) at 4 p.m.
