The University of Minnesota Duluth will continue its Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference campaign this weekend as they travel to Concordia University-St. Paul and Minnesota State University-Mankato.

UMD (2-1-1, 0-0-1 NSIC) took the field for a Tuesday evening game against St. Cloud State to begin their 2016 NSIC season. The Bulldogs and Huskies (1-2-1, 0-0-1 NSIC) battled to a scoreless double-overtime tie, their second tie in as many years.

 The Mavericks have consistently been a dominant force in the NSIC, they have not suffered a conference loss since falling to Winona State University on Nov. 3, 2013 … Minnesota State made a deep Sweet 16 run in the NCAA Tournament last season … fell to second-ranked Grand Valley State last weekend by a score of 4-1 … senior midfielder Kiana Nickel returns for one more season after grabbing All-NSIC First Team honors in 2015 … freshman goalkeeper Alexa Rabune has started all three games for the Mavericks, posting shutouts in two of them … head coach Brian Bahl is in his fourth season with an impressive overall record of 58-7-5, 42-1-2 NSIC … the Bulldogs are 8-17-4 all time against MSU … game time is schedule for 1 p.m. in Mankato, Minn.
